This and more will be discussed by Driss Temsamani, Head of Digital for the Americas at Citi, during his participation in the 8th America Digital World Congress 2023.

In his keynote titled Money and Tokens: The Next Blockchain Economy, Temsamani will explain how to take advantage of this new technology.

As blockchain is a back-end infrastructure technology without a prominent interface, the consumer does not get to see its level of innovation as with the Metaverse or Chat GPT.

However, Citi’s director assures that this new technology has exponential potential.

In the next few years, its growth will be quantified in billions of users and trillions of dollars in value.

And at Citi, says Driss Temsamani, they are approaching the inflection point where this growth will occur with blockchain.

This is likely to be driven by the adoption of central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), as well as tokenized Bank Deposits and Web Payments3.

By 2030, $5 trillion in CBDC is expected to circulate in the world’s major economies.

Of that amount, half could be related to Distributed Ledger Technology, a relatively new concept.

Tokenization of financial assets could be the application that revolutionizes and drives blockchain.

And with it, this technology is expected to reach a value of up to $4 trillion by 2030.

Driss Temsamani is the Americas Director of Digital Treasury and Trade Solutions, part of Citi’s Institutional Clients Business Group.

In this role, he is responsible for a full range of banking platforms responsible for various services.

These include cash management, liquidity investment services, working capital solutions, commercial cards, trading and digital assets.

All of these platforms aim to help multinational companies, financial institutions and public sector organizations operate in the most connected and efficient way in the U.S., Canada and Latin America.
